Metallic Silicon (also known as Industrial Silicon or Crystalline Silicon) is an elemental silicon product produced by reduction smelting of quartz sand and coke in a high-temperature submerged arc furnace. With a silicon content typically ranging from 98.5% to 99.99%, it appears as silver-gray crystalline lumps with metallic luster, hard and brittle in texture.
As a fundamental industrial raw material, it is widely used in aluminum alloy smelting, organosilicon chemical industry and semiconductor chip manufacturing, and is the core raw material of the photovoltaic (PV) solar cell industry chain. Common grades include 553, 551,441,421,411, 3303 and 2202.
